Step 1 Warming up

1.    Introduction

T: Hello, boys and girls. Nice to meet you. I’m your new English teacher.I want to know sth. about you. What’s your name? How are you? What’s the weather like today? Is it usually…in spring? What’s the weather like in spring in Nanjing? Do you like cloudy days? Do you like sunny days? So let me draw the sun for you.

T: You like sunny days. Me, too. Do you want to know more about me? Look, here’s my name card. Do you have any questions?

S1: What's your name?

S2: What’s your favourite season?

T: I like spring best.

S3: What’s your favourite sport?

T: I like climbing.

S4: What’s your hobby?

T: I like making friends.

2. T: I can say a chant with these informations.

  T: This time you ask me, and I answer you.

3. T: I like making friends. Look, this is my new friend whom I knew on the Internet.

2.    Leading in

T: Here’s a letter he wrote to me. There are two new words.(Teach”foggy, snowy”)Read it by yourselves.

T: Answer me quickly. Who’s my new friend? Where does he live? What’s Tim’s favourite season? What does Tim do in winter? What’s Tim’s hobby?

S: He likes playing games.

T: Do you like playing games? Tim teaches us a new game today. Look, he’s showing us how to do it.

Step2 Presentation

1.    Part F

1)    Read the steps of the game.

2)    T: I have made some for you. How to play with them? Look, spin the straw. What are the words?

T: It’s …What do you do? You can say”I …”Can you ask and answer in two seconds? Let’s have a PK.

3)    Now have a PK with your deskmates. Remember that you should ask and answer in two seconds.

4)    Next let’s have a PK in groups. Group1 change Group2. Group2 change Group3.

5)    T: Just now we practiced with the drills. Now here’s a brain storm. What other sentences or dialogues can you say with the two words? For example: To talk about activities I can say… To talk about the weather I can say… Anthing else? Discuss in pairs.

 

2.    Part H

1)    T: You have different activities in different seasons. What about Tim? He wrote me another letter a few days ago. Here it is.

2)    Listen and watch

3)    T: Read in pairs and try to find the new words.

     Can you try to read the new words?

     This time read it by yourselves.

     Can you read with the music? Have a try.

4)    Ask someone to try.

5)    T: Form the rhyme we know the weather and activies of Tim. What’s the weather like in…? What does Tim do in …? Can you fill in the form?

6)    Check the answer.

3.    Part G

1)    T: We don’t know what Tim does in spring from the rhyme. I’d like to show you a picture and you’ll find the answer. What does Tim do in spring? He’s asking a question to his friend. Can you read? Can you read the words with letters “ow”?

2)    What does “ow” pronounce?

3)    I can read the sentence clearly and fluently.

5)    T: Try to use the words to make a sentence.

1)    T: So Tim likes to go to farms in spring. We know the weather in London and the acivities of Tim.

2)    T: Can you completethe form and let Tim know the weather of your hometown and your activities.

1.    T: My hometown is Nanjing. The 2014 Youth Olympic Games is going to be held in Nanjing. I hope Tim can come to Nanjing at that time. So I’d like to write an e-mail to tell him the weather in Nanjing. Here is my letter. Try to finish it for me.

2.    T: When Youth Olympic Games begin, we hope many foreigners come to Nanjing.So here’s an activity, Youth Olympic Games Promotion Ambassador wanted. Do you want to be a Youth Olympic Games Promotion Ambassador? Write a short passage or a rhyme like the one written by Tim to introduce the weather in Nanjing.Let more foreigners know more about Nanjing.

3.    T: Which group got more sunshine? Try to bring sunshine and smile to every foreigner. You are the hoster of 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
